WIC start 2009 in Cartagena des Indias
What a fantastic start into the new season! A few days after we had arrived and acclimatized enjoying our stop in the wonderful hotel Caribe at midsummery temperatures  the 1st World Inline Cup race 2009 took place from 12 to 15 March 2009 in Cartagena des Indias right on the Caribbean coast.

The race took course directly along the sea and through the picturesque old town of Cartagena at temperatures of more than 30°C and sometimes strong winds. The Women’s race was dominated by the local racers, the men’s by those who had already been well-known the year before.

After an exciting race six Columbian women passed the finish line first, among them Cecilia Baena as the first WIC rider got 3rd. Once again the riders of the Luigino team, Joey Mantia and Massimiliano Presti, were the best. In quick succession Yann Guyader the first Powerslide racer followed.

At this point we want to express our thanks to the organization team that had arranged an excellently organized race in an enthusiastic atmosphere. To guarantee a professional realization in Columbia our partner Guido Ferraiuolo from patincarrera.com was mainly responsible for. To him and also to Eugenio Baena, Cecilia’s dad, we want to say again a special and warm “muchas gracias, Guido y Eugenio.”

2.
WIC Top Class height of the season on the Isla de Margarita
Soon after the first WIC race in Latin America is consigned to history a new top event follows. For the first time since the formation of the World Inline Cup there will be a Top Class race in Venezuela. And this not anywhere in Venezuela, no – it will take place on the probably most attractive and spectacular place: the Carribean holiday island Isla de Margarita.
We have agreed to this WIC race to give the World Inline Cup a worthy and special height of the season. For three days, from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2009 the world’s best athletes will have the possibility to compete with each other starting for a road race which is crowned by the WIC marathon on Sunday and – last but not least – the WIC Overall Prize giving on Sunday evening with an “end-of-the-season beach party”. Athletes who register first will have up to 7 days for free in the Top-Resort, full board included. Time for applications is open.

3.
New CIC rules 2009
The CIC Rulebook for 2009 has been published yet. There are not many changes compared to 2008. One important point is: there are no changes concerning technical features of the skates such as for example dimensions of rails and rolls.
This means that the maximum dimensions of the rolls is 110mm, which is not allowed to be exceeded. The rulebook can be downloaded directly from our homepage www.word-inline-cup.com. For any questions please contact us.

4.
WIC Pamplona (Spain) and WIC Suzhou (China)
The exact schedule for the WIC in Pamplona from 30 to 31 May 2009 will follow during the next few days. There are still a few places available, please register soon.

The race in Suzhou was meanwhile confirmed by the Chinese confederation and local organizations. The circuit is new and will be more attractive this time because it is now lying more in the centre of Suzhou. Thus we expect thousands of spectators on the route in a very good atmosphere.
We will organize the trip to the WORLD INLINE CUP top class race of Suzhou (China) in cooperation with the Chinese organizers, the confederation and local authorities at again very attractive conditions. Let us know who wants to immerge into Asian culture, to get to know the original village of Suzhou, modern Shanghai and the shopping city Hong Kong.
If you are interested in this journey send a mail to info@iguana.ch with the header “Suzhou”. We will contact you immediately.

At the moment there are negotiations between Iguana and the Chinese inline confederation to consider the possibility of a second WIC event in South China directly before or after the race in Suzhou. We will keep you informed!
