WORLD INLINE CUP Ferrara

The following week-end a WORLD INLINE CUP race will take place in Italy again after many years without WIC races. And the location is not any ordinary town in Italy, but Ferrara with its medieval centre.

Ferrara is situated in northern Italy in the eastern part of the Po Valley in the region Emilia Romagna. It is the capital city of the province with the same name and diocesan town and lies on the right banks of the river Po, of which a branch channel, the Po di Volano, runs right through the middle of the town. Ferrara is an economic and cultural centre, as well as a big university town. Its university, one of the oldest in Europe, was founded in 1391. Ferrara has only been founded in the Middle Ages and thus it represents one of the few Italian cities without Roman roots. Almost its whole ancient walls, mainly built in the 15th and 16th century, have been preserved. The urban structure of today goes back to the 14th century when the town was governed by the Este family. The extension of the town centre, prepared by the architect Biagio Rossetti, is an example of modern town planning worldwide. For its historic town centre Ferrara has been qualified by UNESCO as World Heritage Site.

Next week-end the top athletes of inline sport will come together in Ferrara for two days to take part in the races of the WORLD INLINE CUP. Everything has been initialized and organized from the woman and man of action, Sara Rambaldi and Mirko Rimessi of “Vitamine & Co.”, who are at the same time team owners of the Ferrara WIC teams. With the traditional track races “Trofeo del Lavoro” on May 1st and the WIC Ferrara Marathon on Sunday 2nd May, the two days will be characterized by the competition between the most important and best teams worldwide, who will be there in Ferrara. Especially the marathon race – even open for the fitness and amateur athletes – will be noticed considerably all over Europe and will certainly have many participants. Organizers, the government as well as the media stand behind this event and show this with their support and presence.

We are very glad to welcome everybody in Ferrara, so let’s say to all fans of inline sport: “Benvenuti a tutto del mondo a Ferrara - Ferrara welcomes the World!
