WORLD INLINE CUP

The WORLD INLINE CUP (WIC) is since 2000 the highest international marathon series for inline speed skaters. The world´s best skaters take part in the world's most demanding and biggest marathon races in Europe and Asia and meet fitness skaters from all over the globe. The overall winners will receive prize money after the season. Since 2014 the organizer of the WORLD INLINE CUP is IGUANA Deutschland GmbH

Philosophy

The World Inline Cup stands for top sport. The best skaters in the world are at the start of every event. They appreciate the perfect organisation, the most beautiful and centrally-located courses, and the professional marketing of the Inline Skating sport in the media. And they know that the organisers of the Inline movement love the sport.

The World Inline Cup stands for mass movement. Every stage is also a festival on rollers without discrimination, without licenses. For the large masses the fun-oriented experience is first and foremost: the thrilling atmosphere, the pulsating program and the knowledge that the hobby skaters are taken just as seriously as the pros by hat organisers. The World Inline Cup is a platform for the entire family and with family-related services.

The World Inline Cup successfully combines sport, fun and adventure with culture. The core of events is the pulsating Inline Village with the best brands, the newest products and exciting activities. And of course, parties with imaginative catering are part of the experience.

Changes to the WORLD INLINE CUP calendar 2021

Legs in Ostrava, Czech Republic (19th June) and in Barranquilla, Colombia (19th September) canceled due to the pandemic, other Organisers still hopeful

Berlin, 27th April 2021. Due to the still dynamic COVID 19 crisis the Organising Committees of Ostrava, Czech Republic and Barranquilla, Colombia have to cancel their races.

“Unfortunately, due to the continued critical situation, we did not receive the necessary approval from the local authorities to host our WIC marathon in 2021. We very much regret this decision but are convinced that we will finally be able to welcome the inline community of the WORLD INLINE CUP in Barranquilla in 2022. We wish all athletes and partners health and the necessary energy for the next months”, mentioned Eduardo Restrepo from the LOC in Barranquilla.

“We are very said to cancel the WORLD INLINE CUP 2021 in Ostrava cause of the ongoing dynamic pandemic situation. But we are already preparing a WIC race in the Czech Republic in 2022, when we hope to welcome the skating community again and enjoy the great atmosphere around our inner-city circuit”, said Jan Krejcír, Organiser on behalf of Czech Skate. Registration fees already paid for this race will be repaid or credited for the 2022 season.

On the other hand, the Organisers of L´Aquila in Italy (23rd May) and Funchal on the island of Madeira in Portugal (13th June) are continuing their preparations and are hopeful that the restrictions will allow for both races to be held.

“Even if the 2021 season remains challenging due to the pandemic, we are still happy and grateful that all organisers are doing their best to stage as many skate events as possible for the athletes and the community. However, the health and safety of the athletes must continue to have top priority. We are still confident that there will be a WIC season this year also with two associated races during the autumn; but are already looking forward to really getting off to a good start again in the new year with proven and new partners”, added Volker Schlichting, Executive Director WORLD INLINE CUP.
