WORLD INLINE CUP

The WORLD INLINE CUP (WIC) is since 2000 the highest international marathon series for inline speed skaters. The world´s best skaters take part in the world's most demanding and biggest marathon races in Europe and Asia and meet fitness skaters from all over the globe. The overall winners will receive prize money after the season. Since 2014 the organizer of the WORLD INLINE CUP is IGUANA Deutschland GmbH

Philosophy

The World Inline Cup stands for top sport. The best skaters in the world are at the start of every event. They appreciate the perfect organisation, the most beautiful and centrally-located courses, and the professional marketing of the Inline Skating sport in the media. And they know that the organisers of the Inline movement love the sport.

The World Inline Cup stands for mass movement. Every stage is also a festival on rollers without discrimination, without licenses. For the large masses the fun-oriented experience is first and foremost: the thrilling atmosphere, the pulsating program and the knowledge that the hobby skaters are taken just as seriously as the pros by hat organisers. The World Inline Cup is a platform for the entire family and with family-related services.

The World Inline Cup successfully combines sport, fun and adventure with culture. The core of events is the pulsating Inline Village with the best brands, the newest products and exciting activities. And of course, parties with imaginative catering are part of the experience.

UPDATE OF THE WORLD INLINE CUP CALENDAR 2021

CANCELLATION OF THE WIC MARATHONS IN HARBIN, CHINA AND ZANDVOORT, NETHERLANDS

Harbin/Zandvoort/Berlin, 28thMay 2021. Even if the WIC kick-off last weekend in L'Aquila, Italy was a positive sign for the sport, the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet been finally overcome. Every country has individual developments and regulations. Even if all organizers try to stage as many races as possible, everyone's health continues to have top priority.

In China, the current entry regulations and requirements are still so strict that it is not possible to mobilize an international starting field for a WIC marathon in Harbin this year. In this respect, the organizer of the WORLD INLINE CUP HARBIN had to decide to cancel the international WIC 2021 in Harbin. “We very much regret not having an international WIC marathon in Harbin this year. Since there is so much enthusiasm for sport in this country, we are happy to host at least one national competition and marathon in Harbin this year. We look forward to welcoming numerous international skaters to Harbin again in 2022”, said Mr. Li Wenyue, President of the Harbin Roller Skating Association

The reasons for speaking out against hosting a WIC marathon in Zandvoort on the Formula 1 track were somewhat different. “Together with all partners, we carefully weighed the pros and cons of a WIC marathon this year. The current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the expected international athletes in this year, the expected TV coverage and the optimal use of the racetrack have prompted us not to hold a WIC marathon in Zandvoort in 2021. We will look at the future and set up a new possibility for 2022", said Marcel Scheperkamp from the Royal Dutch Skating Association (KNSB).

Details about the WIC overall Ranking in this year based on the updated calendar will be published soon.
