Berlin, 22nd December 2023 – Today, the World Inline Cup organization is delighted to release the preliminary calendar for the 2024 season. This year's lineup includes six marathons across six distinct countries. We're excited to welcome back the Bern Marathon in Switzerland, rejoining the World Inline Cup for the first time since 2010.
This season promises to be a great experience for our athletes and teams, featuring a great diversity of participating countries. The season kicks off with Class 1 marathons in the European cities of Funchal, Portugal, and Rennes, France. Funchal, the capital of the Portuguese archipelago of Madeira, is known for its stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Rennes, the capital of Brittany in northwestern France, offers a unique blend of historical architecture and vibrant modern culture. The journey then extends to Asia with the top-class marathon in Harbin, China. Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang, the northernmost province of China, is famous for its beautiful ice sculptures and winter festivities. We return to Europe with a stop in Bern, Switzerland, also a Class 1 event. Bern, the charming capital of Switzerland, is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture and vibrant cultural scene. Regarding the traditional final at the BMW Berlin Marathon Inline Skating, we all have to be patient and wait for the final confirmation from the organiser. Additionally, the year will conclude with the Sarasota Marathon in the USA, joining us as an Associated Race. Sarasota, a city and also the county seat of Sarasota County, in the U.S. state of Florida, is known for its beautiful beaches and rich artistic community. Note that the Sarasota Marathon will not contribute points to the World Inline Cup ranking.
"We are excited to release a solid preliminary calendar for the 2024 season, covering six countries across three continents. As for the Berlin marathon, we are awaiting final confirmations and will update the community as soon as details are finalized. Please stay tuned, as there will be maybe some surprises throughout the season that we're eager to share with our athletes, teams, and fans." says Volker Schlichting, Executive Director of the World Inline Cup.
