SUCCESSFUL EXCITING WOMEN'S AND MEN'S RACES IN RENNES AT THE 2ND STAGE OF THE WORLD INLINE CUP 2025

Bart Swings, BEL (Powerslide Vesmaco World Team) narrowly wins the men's race, Lianne van Loon, NED (Doubleff World Inline Team) the women's race

Rennes, 25th May 2025 – Exciting races at the highest level, good weather and thousands of spectators in the centre of the Breton capital, Rennes, presented the inline sport at its best at today's WORLD INLINE CUP Marathon. With top stars like Bart Swings, Felix Rijhnen, Jason Suttels and Mike Paez from the Powerslide Vesmaco World Team, the bar was set very high for the victory at the 2nd WIC Marathon this season. But athletes such as Julio Mirena, PAR and Martin Ferrie, FRA from the SheaStokes Inline Team, Nolan Beddiaf, FRA from the Manao FR Skates Team, Patxi Peula, ESP from NL-Racing or Germains Deschamps, FRA did not have to hide at the start line.

Aura Quintana, ESP, Marine Lefeuvre, FRA and Natalia Anabel Pesantez, ECU from the SheaStokes Speed InlineTeam were also very strong in the women's event. But Lianne von Loon, NED from the Doubleff World Inline Team, Noraly Berber Vonk, NED from SPSKSK and Manon Fraboulet, FRA were also strong international competitors.

The races were correspondingly exciting. In the men's race, everyone was excited to see what form Bart Swings would be in after his long injury break. Another highlight was certainly the participation of Ewen Fernadez, FRA, who was back on the starting line in his home country of Brittany five years after retiring. The atmosphere on the course was excellent, as the starting field stayed close together for most of the race and the lead kept changing hands.

The top favourites in the women's race also stayed close together and fought a fast and tough race.

So it came as no surprise that both races were only decided at the finish line. In the men's race, Bart Swings came out on top just ahead of Patxi Peula and Martin Ferrie in the final sprint. The women's race was decided by a photo finish. In the end, Lianne van Loon won ahead of Marine Lefeuvre and Manon Fraboulet.

The next WIC race will take place on 9 June in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.

WORLD INLINE CUP

The WORLD INLINE CUP (WIC) is since 2000 the highest international marathon series for inline speed skaters. The world´s best skaters take part in the world's most demanding and biggest marathon races in Europe and Asia and meet fitness skaters from all over the globe. The overall winners will receive prize money after the season. Since 2014 the organizer of the WORLD INLINE CUP is IGUANA Deutschland GmbH

Philosophy

The World Inline Cup stands for top sport. The best skaters in the world are at the start of every event. They appreciate the perfect organisation, the most beautiful and centrally-located courses, and the professional marketing of the Inline Skating sport in the media. And they know that the organisers of the Inline movement love the sport.

The World Inline Cup stands for mass movement. Every stage is also a festival on rollers without discrimination, without licenses. For the large masses the fun-oriented experience is first and foremost: the thrilling atmosphere, the pulsating program and the knowledge that the hobby skaters are taken just as seriously as the pros by hat organisers. The World Inline Cup is a platform for the entire family and with family-related services.

The World Inline Cup successfully combines sport, fun and adventure with culture. The core of events is the pulsating Inline Village with the best brands, the newest products and exciting activities. And of course, parties with imaginative catering are part of the experience.
