MARATHON DES GRAND CRUS IN DIJON POSTPONED TO 17th October 2021 DATE CLASH WITH WIC ASSOCIATED RACE IN SARASOTA, FLORIDA

Dijon, Berlin, 29th June 2021. The Marathon des Grand Crus in Dijon has been taking skaters and runners since 2019 on the oldest wine route in France, the Route des Grand Crus, through the wine region of the Bourgogne. Due to the unusually cold spring months in April and May 2021, the wine harvest has been delayed this year. For this reason, the regional government, decided that the event must be postponed to October 17th. This decision means that the Associated Races in Dijon (FRA) and Sarasota, Florida (USA) will take place on the same day. Both races are staged after the official WIC final in Berlin and are classified as "Associated Races" outside of the WIC ranking, therefore a date collision cannot be ruled out according to the WIC rules.

“Since no more points are at stake for the overall ranking of the WIC in both races, the date clash is exceptionally possible. Nevertheless, after such a long period of cancellations, we would very much have liked to prevent a collision of two races on the same day. We will avoid this in the future”, said Volker Schlichting, Executive Director WORLD INLINE CUP.
