11 top teams from 14 countries compete on a new track in the Breton capital Livestream will be available

Berlin, Rennes, 7th June 2024 – Next Sunday, June 9th, the second stage of this year's WORLD INLINE CUP starts in Rennes, the beautiful capital of Brittany. Once again, a roller sports festival is being celebrated over two days in the center of the city, now in its 42nd edition. In addition to BMX and inline slalom competitions and numerous roller sports activities for young and old, there will once again be a fun run for everything that has wheels. But half marathons and marathons for masters are also on the extensive program this weekend. The sporting highlight will once again be the WORLD INLINE CUP marathon, where a very high-class elite of top teams from 14 countries will meet this year to fight for further points in the WIC overall ranking.

In the men's event, the question is whether Julio Mirena (PAR) from the SheaStokes Inline Speed Team will be able to extend his overall WIC lead at the 2nd WIC stage in Rennes, France after his victory in Funchal against last year's winner in Rennes, Bart Swings (BEL) Powerslide Racing Team. Both will be supported by their strong teams. In addition to J. Mirena, Carlos Tarazona (VEN), Hayden Groves (USA), and Manuel Taibo (ESP) will start for SheaStokes. In the Powerslide Racing Team, Bart Swings will receive prominent support from Felix Rijhnen (GER), Jason Suttels (BEL), and Mike Paez (MEX). But the Frenchmen Nolan Beddiaf and Martin Ferrie (NL-Premium Team) are also among the top favorites and have already stood on the podium in Rennes several times. The starting field of top athletes is completed by top skaters Patxi Peula (ESP) and Matteo Barison (ITA) from the Rollerblade World Team, who both achieved top placings in Funchal and have proven their good form. Another athlete on the long list of favorites is Timothy Loubineaud (FRA) from the BONT Europe Team, who recently proved his excellent form on the track in Geisingen.

An exciting women's race is expected between last year's winners Marine Balanant (FRA), Marine Lefeuvre (FRA), NL Premium Team, and Aura Quintana (COL) SPSPSK Team. Aura Quintana was already able to prove her good form in Funchal with her second place. But Journ Geerts (BEL) from the Doubleff Team, who performed very strongly in Funchal, is certainly one of the favorites, as are Marie Dupuy (FRA) from the Powerslide Racing Team and Alicia Delhommais (FRA) from the Rollerblade World Team.

A total of six women's and five men's teams from at least 14 countries will be competing.

We wish all athletes and visitors a successful weekend of roller sports. Those who cannot be there can follow the race via live stream. https://youtube.com/live/tmrLNKK8LIs

The WIC Marathon starts on June 9th at 3:30 p.m.

The next stop of the WORLD INLINE CUP after Rennes will be in Harbin, China on August 10th.
