Bart Swings Wins Second WORLD INLINE CUP Leg In Rennes

On Sunday afternoon, many of the world’s best skaters competed for points in the second race for the WORLD INLINE CUP 2018. The conditions were perfect, and a thrilling race could be expected with the French top skaters from the Rollerblade World Team, the Powerslide / Matter Racing Team, the BONT Skates, The In-Gravity Team, the Castellon Spain Marathon Team and the Czech National Team meeting the athletes from EOSkates World Team, who had been already successful at the first WORLD INLINE CUP race of this season in Castellon/ Oropesa, Spain. The positive trend could be continued with the most international top skaters and teams at the WORLD INLINE CUP in Rennes since many years.

The men’s race was dominated by a group of single adults from three top teams. Bart Swings from Powerslide, Ewen Fernandez from Rollerblade and Martin Ferrié from EOSkates broke away in the second of 14 laps. In the chase group, the leadership changed between Gary Hekman from BONT Skates, Nolan Beddiaf from EOSkates and Felix Rijhnen from Powerslide, but they could not catch up with the strong leadership group. In the end, Bart Swings, the Belgium World Champion, crossed the finish line first before the French athlete Martin Ferrié. For Bart this victory was also a new historical record. He is now the first skater who could win the Rennes sur Roulettes Marathon for the fifth time.

In the women’s race Maelann Le Roux from BONT Skates crossed the finish line first. The second and third place had to be decided by photo finish which had Marine Lefeuvre before Aura Christina Quintana Herrera from EOSkates with less than the blink of an eye.

With more than 7.000 participants in all disciplines, events and competitions and more than 25.000 spectators the Rennes sur Roulettes Festival of the last two days was once again one of the most important Roller Sports Event in Europe.
