Ewen Fernandez from France and Katharina Rumpus from Germany won the WIC marathon in Dijon, France.

Dijon, 12th June 2016. The Skating Marathon of Dijon staged in its 2016 edition as before not only the WORLD INLINE CUP but also the Roller Marathon French Cup and the European Masters Marathon Championships on the beautiful Park Avenue in the Burgundian city. Thousands of spectators came to watch the top-class starter field.

Top performances by fitness and elite skaters

After races for juniors and seniors the top skating elite met at the third stage of the WORLD INLINE CUP in the beautiful city of Dijon. Two weeks after the WIC in Rennes, France the top athletes met to collect more points for the WIC ranking. Cause of injury the winner of last year, Bart Swings (BEL) from the Powerslide Matter World Team had to cancel his participation. Katharina Rumpus from the Powerslide Matter World Team too won the women’s race and could take the lead of the overall ranking.

Ewen Fernandez missed the course record by only two seconds

Ewen Fernandez (EO Skates) who was second in Rennes started very strong and made a breakout already after less than ten kilometres. The chasing group of skaters with Nolan Beddiaf and Guillaume de Mallevoue from EOSkates, Jakob Ulreich, Elton de Souza and Christian Kromoser from X-Tech, Felix Rijhnen from Powerslide and the Mexican Mike Paez who made the third place in Rennes changed their positions permanently. Finally, Ewen Fernandez won before Nolan Beddiaf and Guillaume de Mallevoue. So the podium for the male WIC skaters was French and saw an EOSkates World team triple.

Strong competition of female skaters
